Competent Person Excavation and Trenching (* / **)

Minimum 8 / $100.00 per student / 4 hours
This course teaches attendees how to meet competent person requirements under the OSHA Excavation Standard. Highlights of the class include detailed explanation of soil testing, cave-in protection methods, inspection techniques, and other requirements as outlined by the standard. This course is a must for excavators, utility companies, foundation workers, general contractors, and anyone who works in or around excavations.

This class provides the education for a company to identify an individual as a Competent Person. Participants will learn definitions and terminology, general safety requirements for every excavation, different types of protective systems, participate in a hands-on soil classification lab, understand the duties of a Competent Person, and learn what regulatory agencies focus on during an inspection. Class includes multiple practical exercises which develop decision making skills and field observations of actual excavations.

Classes that are marked with a ( * ) can be combined to receive an OSHA 10 Hour Card.
Classes that are marked with a
( ** ) can be combined to receive an OSHA 30 Hour Card.
All 10 and 30 hour training must take place within a six(6) month period.
